I mentioned it in this thread not long after it happened but this wasn’t on the local officers although that was the outcry or implication by the SS.

It isn’t because local officers can’t make mistakes but I have been on presidential protection and the things left to the local agencies are detailed by the SS. It isn’t merely left to the local police departments. In this case it looks like the local agencies were telling the SS what to clear and they didn’t do it. If the story was correct on another report, the locals and maybe some SS agents didn’t have direct immediate contact with each other and relied on text messages. HUH??

We had direct contact in 1992. Why 32 years later they didn’t?

In my case I told where to be, what to secure and not to abandon my post period unless relieved with another officer on my scene as cleared by the command post. Could I have failed on my assignment as a local officer? Certainly but then it would be on a single officer and not because the SS didn’t secure the scene in the preliminary setup or because they ignored a potential threat or weakness.
