Op! Why didn't you call yourself a Boy Scout??? Already using the name
I run the Police Explorers at my (retired from) department. Like you said, the Boy Scouts name was dropped five years ago and the Explorers have been co-ed for a few decades.
You wouldn’t think that adding “America” to a name that has had males and females together since before half the people reading this forum have been alive, would cause so much controversy.
All they did was change the name to:
Scouting America
Absolutely horrible!!

I was going to sign my son up 2 years ago, then when I saw the list of things they were going to do it seemed pointless. He already was doing half the things on the list and the rest didn't seem to have anything to do with anything. The only thing I feel he was going to learn from it was teamwork. I chose not to go forward with it. I can understand the benefits of it for a family who is has no understanding or experience of the outdoors though.
