    Texas Suppressor Freedom Act???

Hoping someone can educate me on what’s going on. Hadn’t heard of this prior to today but a friend was telling me Texas has appealed to the 5th circuit court of appeals hoping to make it legal to own suppressors made in Texas by residents within the state without having to buy tax stamps or wait on NFA/ATF background checks.

Essentially he was saying that if the state wins this appeal, Texas residents could buy a suppressor at a store and take it home the same day.

please chime in if you can educate me if this is true or not

I don’t know if Texas has appealed the last ruling a few days ago but that ruling said that AG Paxton doesn’t have the right to sue for the benefit of a private citizen which is exactly what the Texas law requires.

Unless something has changed since last week, the issue doesn’t appear to be going in favor of Texas. Certainly it is possible that there was an appeal within the last week but I haven’t noticed anything. If I find something new I will post it.

There are several threads covering this issue but the last was started just a few days ago.

For a much more in depth explanation you can go to the Other Side of the Ranch forum and look up the thread TX Suppressors..

    or…. Click on this link:

So are they legal or not legal, and what are some TX companies that make them? When hunting with a suppressor do you have some type of paper work you have to carry incase a game warden checks you?

I'm sure the federal government won't allow a state to do this and at the same time not enforce the border or federal drug laws......but by god they will sick the ATF on people with evil guns, just the ones with legal firearms not the criminals they get a pass.......
