    Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haʻapai submarine volcano

    Anyone seen this?

Worlds largest recorded volcanic eruption under the ocean last year. Now maybe I missed it but I've never seen it mentioned before now. I wonder why something that they now say impacts the temp of our atmosphere and oceans wasn't broadcast over every single news source in the world? Must've been while was sleeping.....

The greenies can’t justify taking your gas stove away if people hear that volcanos are the cause of global warming.

Lots of A'a lava came from that eruption.

Hadn't heard about the eruption or the volcano but wanted to type A'a lava as I haven't gotten to do that since I had igneous and metamorphic petrology class in college.

I got interested in this a couple months ago after stumbling across an article about it and I went down the rabbit hole. The atmospheric scientific journals have written extensively about how the amount of water vapor it released is likely to warm the planet by a few degrees for several years. The national and local news outlets are not interested in talking about it. I suppose it doesn’t fit the approved narrative

Interesting. Sort of similar to a magnifying glass with sunlight effect? or insulating effect from water's high specific heat?

the latter, insulating effect of atmospheric moisture.

Yep. You can't tax or demonize any person or group because of a volcanic eruption.

Sure you can. Everybody knows it’s white supremacy that caused the eruption.

Read something similar a week ago. And it explains perfectly our weather this year. the "wet bulb temperatures" seems to be all the rage this summer.

it will be interesting to see how it plays out next summer.

That's what got my attention. The fact that this happened a year ago, set all sorts of new records for volcanic eruptions, and yet no one I've talked to has ever heard about it. The fact it hasn't been covered by every major, even minor, news agency says all I need to know about who controls and sensors the media.

Welp... I bet that writer had to use every trick in the book to avoid breaking the narrative. She came really close to using common sense and the truth.

Still though, I can only award 1 point.

Geoscientist Sam Purkis, who was not involved in the research, said the study elegantly illuminates how volcanoes interact with the atmosphere. Scientists had already suspected that the eruption was a focal point for lightning, but the paper pinpoints how extreme it really was.
“This is a fascinating study and shows how the Tongan eruption influenced the Earth system in ways that you might not immediately associate with a volcanic explosion,”

The underwater eruption of Hunga Tonga–Hunga Ha‘apai sent megatons of water vapor into the stratosphere, contributing to an increase in global warming over the next 5 years.

Wet bulb is not new and has no direct relationship to this volcano. It’s simply a method to gauge the effect of heat on the human body by combining the actual temperature, with solar radiational heating (how an object heats in direct sun) and the inter-relationship of humidity.
