    Sheridan hog down

went to the lease night before last with drenalinjunkie to try and thin out the hog population in Sheridan. We arrived at the lease about 6pm. On my way in to my tree stand, I saw a group of pigs to my left. I tried to put a stalk on em, but the dead leaves, dried crunchy grass and my crocs were not cooperating! Had to take off my shoes and try and sneak up on em. I got with in 20 yards went to draw my bow andmy elbow popped so loud, it sounded like a .22 goin off! Pigs scattered. I gathered up my stuff and headed to my ladder stand.

When I got to my ladder, I saw something that wasnt there last week... A ROAD!!! Yes. A road was cut thru the woods startin at the tree my ladder stand is on. Road is about as wide as a D9 CAT...and then some. I couldnt stand it. I had to see where the road went. I followed it almost to the end when I noticed what time it was. 10 minutes til my feeder goes off. I high tail it back to my stand.

Wasnt in the stand 3 or 4 minutes and the same group of pigs I spooked earlier, comes to the feeder. I picked out the biggest one of the bunch and let the death missle fly. Stevie Wonder could have followed the blood trail left by the 100 grain Slick Trick.

this is the only pic I got (cell phone) I would have been able to get some good pix, but it got dark b4 we could get back to my pig. DJ shot a hog that was pouring out blood, then an alien or Predator or somethin came down and took his pig. We had great blood. Found where his boar laid down. Got up walked around in a circle and vanished. Still aint figured that one out.

Went over to Hoyt Man's house to skin and quarter my pig. Had a few cold ones and told a few lies. Always good to get together with TBHers!!

Good deal. I hate it when my elbow pops like that when I'm drawing down on my prey! I "try" to remember to draw my bow on my way to my stand but don't remember all the time. I pay for it when I don't! Again Good job!

I have no idea why the road is there. The guy that runs our lease has been sick, so I havent got to talk to him.

                    Congrads on the kill, Dan.

Donna must have put some bad karma on Forrest that hasn't washed off yet.

Naw, that bad karma was there long b4 Donna laid the smack down on that ram!!

Seriously, I can not believe how tuff hogs are. I have made and seen some excellent shots and never find a drop of blood. I have seen pigs bleed for 50 yards then the blood trail just stop. I dont get it. Gotta get some explodin arrow tips I guess!!

You ain't kiddin on the blood trails...... both of them could have been followed by a blind man. I have never had a walking blood trail just STOP. I had circled the group of trees the hog I shot went into before Dan got over to lend a hand. Then we both circled it.......... not a single drop of blood found by either of us. Only good things out of it, other than spending time in the woods and getting to hang with friends was that I got my arrow that passed through back!!!!!

Have I mentioned lateley......................................... I HATE PIGS!!!!!
