To all the fathers out there that have tried to get a young hunter on a turkey you can feel my pain. We hunted our butts off this weekend. The wind was really a challenge and the birds were spooky. Easton had a couple of chances on a nice long beard but he just couldn't get the shot off. Needless to say he was pretty upset when 6:45 pm hit and we knew the birds would be headed to roost. We decided to try for a hog when all the sudden two nice birds showed up for a late snack and a little light flirting when our hen decoy. At 20 yrd the 20 gag. did its job and Easton had his first bird. I was so proud of him and he was bouncing of the wall, he nearly knocked over the blind as he ran out to claim his trophy.
The bird was 2.2 yrs with 6.25 inch beard and about 19 pounds.
