Well, several weeks ago, being a Rage shooter, I posted the question about the best broadhead to bring down an Oryx. Several people came back with "Slick Tricks". I even had one guy tell me that Rage was not going to do it. I have had an unbelievable year using the two blade Rage 100 gr. I decided to stay with it. I will tell you, I do not think that I have hunted a more wharry animal. I was hunting from a pit blind that was dug over three weeks ago and these animals must have the most incredible sight and sense of smell, I have ever seen on an animal. It got in my "hole" at 6:30 am on this past Saturday. It rained the entire day. Even with only having a 10" diameter shoot through, I was busted on my first attempt to draw my bow. I stayed in the blind until 10:30. I took a break for lunch and returned at 1:30 pm. finally, the rain stopped and the Oryx came out. It was about 5:30 when they came back into range. There was a huge bull I had my sight on. At this time, I was literally laying down to the side in order to remain out of sight. I was finally able to get to full draw. I leaned over to my shoot through hole, put my 30 yard pin on the bulls shoulder and just as I was touching my release, The herd bolted. I released the arrow and it struck another Oryx that jumped in front of the bull. The arrow entered the animal (quartering away), just between the back hip and the flank. I was sick! The herd ran into the brush and my heart sank. I returned to the camp with a very bad feeling. I waited 1 1/2 hour to begin my search. At first, I found no blood, but soon there was blood everywhere. That Rage had just kept cutting and digging. 200 yards later, there laid my 35" cow. Not the one I had originally picked out, but I am thrilled!!!! What an awesome hunt!!!!
