    Comfort Doe Hunt

We had our annual trek to the Hill Country for our Doe and Spike hunt last weekend. This is our 5th or 6th year in a row to get together and end our season with an awesome weekend of eating, drinking, and of course hunting. I did a poor job with pixels this year so the video and a few LDP's will have to do.

I had not loosed an arrow at a deer all season prior to this weekend, but I made up for it. After 10 seasons, I finally retired my MQ-32 and just about a week ago I picked up my new Mathews Reezen 7.0. I got it all dialed in and ready to hunt last weekend.

We arrived on Thursday night about midnight and got ready to start our 3 day hunt. I will let the video tell the story, but I hunted Friday and Saturday and took 3 shots and killed 3 does over those four hunts.

Sidenote: I got a little excited on my first shot and after finally getting the video just right I took a shot at a bad angle. I was so excited that I did not realize the angle she was at until I watched the video replay. It turned out well as she only made it about 30 yards, but another lesson learned. (You can actually hear her crash just before the axis barks at me.)

I hunted hard after the largest spike I have seen in person, but was unable to seal the deal. He would have made a really cool Euro mount. However it was not meant to be. You can see him in the video below that I filmed of my good friend shooting one of his does.

It was a great weekend and kept my freezer from being empty the rest of the year.

You can not beat a meat haul like that. Looks like the new Reezen was broke in well.
