    Lake Georgetown...oops!

Well, as most of you well know, the pink slip fairy visited me last week and I was released from my job on Friday. I'd spent the remainder of the week touching base with folks that want to help (and if I haven't yet, please get back in touch with me, my email addresses are changing for obvious reasons) and trying to get everything updated and ready to begin searching again.

Yesterday, the wind started picking up and Val looked at me and asked if we could go fishing. Then, she mentioned that if they were still running hunts out at Lake Georgetown (MLDP folks, before you go there) that we should go hunting.

Sure 'nuff. We ended up sitting yesterday evening waiting, thanks to the Rangers. I was really hoping for a doe, even a young one. They need them off the property, and my family and I really need the meat. They have scores of tags left over for this year that need to be filled, and at 4:41 yesterday (January 29th, 2k7) a prayer was said and one more tag got filled.

Sadly, it was a nubber. I know, I know, these things happen, but I still wish that it had been a doe, or at least a year or two older. Us hunters are their culling machines, there's no way that they could do what they need to do in the areas they are pulling them in from (residential neighborhoods, etc.).

But, without any further adieu, Slick Trick 100gr., complete passthru, one lung, a bit too far back for me, would have preferred both lungs...next time, I'm going for a bit further to the front.

Mmmm, veal. Look at it this way, the shot placement was much more difficult on the smaller target. And there I was starting to think you could only shoot dots.

And I guess Val has to lose the "Baby Killer" moniker now. Glad to see at least a couple of meals are covered...

      Congrats.

Nubber or not, its legal and that area needs deer killed; and you need the meat. No shame on that deer. Congrats on the TENDER backstraps.

          Question: Was Val's bigger

Congrats, Skip. He'll be good eatin'. I've now got to go get another one. I think mine was bigger, btw.

Well done, Smitty. Definitely nothing wrong with that one. Congratulations.

BTW, have you posted your Zak story since the crash?

Devin, sure have. Right around the first of December, I think the thread title was A Somber Anniversary.

We'll see that story again, I'm sure, someone will ask about avatar pics or something of the sort. Or the first of December will roll around.

I agree with all...tender eatin', for sure!

El Jefe, you still have a few days left. Call them up and get on a special access hunt. You still can lay one down if you want.
