Well, as most of you well know, the pink slip fairy visited me last week and I was released from my job on Friday. I'd spent the remainder of the week touching base with folks that want to help (and if I haven't yet, please get back in touch with me, my email addresses are changing for obvious reasons) and trying to get everything updated and ready to begin searching again.
Yesterday, the wind started picking up and Val looked at me and asked if we could go fishing. Then, she mentioned that if they were still running hunts out at Lake Georgetown (MLDP folks, before you go there) that we should go hunting.
Sure 'nuff. We ended up sitting yesterday evening waiting, thanks to the Rangers. I was really hoping for a doe, even a young one. They need them off the property, and my family and I really need the meat. They have scores of tags left over for this year that need to be filled, and at 4:41 yesterday (January 29th, 2k7) a prayer was said and one more tag got filled.
Sadly, it was a nubber. I know, I know, these things happen, but I still wish that it had been a doe, or at least a year or two older. Us hunters are their culling machines, there's no way that they could do what they need to do in the areas they are pulling them in from (residential neighborhoods, etc.).
But, without any further adieu, Slick Trick 100gr., complete passthru, one lung, a bit too far back for me, would have preferred both lungs...next time, I'm going for a bit further to the front.
