    Stackin' em' up during Thanksgiving

Well I finally got a long enough break from school to spend some time with my family and do a little huntin'. After eating enough to feed an army, we headed down to our hog lease in Liberty. First morning, I spooked a butt load of hogs that were bedded around my feeder. As soon as the feeder went off, they were back! I picked out a small spotted boar and sent a snuffer through his lungs. He ran straight away from me, then a couple seconds later, here he comes back. He smacked into a tree 7 ft from the base of my stand where he met his final resting place. Needless to say, the comotion he made ruined the rest of my hunt, but that is okay. I was pumped

The next hunt I got winded, then the following morning I had a big sow with a bunch of piglets come in. So I let her walk.

My Uncle Troy did some damage himself on a decent boar and sow.

On my last evening hunt, I thought I was going to get skunked. Then the pigs started coming and never stopped. I let another snuffer fly on a black sow and heard her crash about 50 yards away. Ten minutes later, Another group come in so I stuck a little black boar. He spun in 3 circles and fell over under the feeder. As soon as my heart quit pounding, 2 sows and a bunch of piglets come in and started eating despite a dead hog under the feeder and a bloody arrow stuck in the ground. There was a big blonde boar and a huge black boar standing a ways out, but they never came in.

We decided to top the weekend off with a sunday morning family duck hunt. It was my little sisters first duck hunt and my mom was video taping. We were able to get 3 limits in 36 minutes. Woodducks, Gadwall, GW and BW teal.

It was an amazing weekend that makes me proud to call myself a hunter! Here are a few final pictures of us teaching my sister gun safety and our camp.

congrats on the hunt. Have you ever hunted the river bottom south of the fairgrounds. a friend of mine said he saw a nice 8 pt. and several bunches of hogs at his trailer house.

That is pretty much where we hunt. We have seen some bruiser deer in there, but it is a hog only lease. You know they are out there though as long as the poachers don't get em'.

haha...I know it. I haven't ever seen that before.

Thanks everybody! Being in school year around, I don't get to get into the field as much as I would like. But this trip has made my season. We will see if it can get any better over my Christmas break!
