Ok So let me start off by saying that I am now a true believer in trail cams and the moon guide. I was laughed at because of both by my Dad (in good fun) but who's laughing now huh? So I have enjoyed using my Moultrie D40 flash trailcam and it has worked flawlessly. I started with a Bushnell but did not like the picture quality. I was seeing this buck and he was always at night except for a few early mornings. I Pastor a small church and work full time to keep from taking money from the church so to get out to hunt is really hard and sacrifical. So I had a moment where I realized that this buck would almost always be at the feeder during peak moon times. So it stated yesterday that it would be at 5pm. i snuck out of work early and headed out hoping for the best. I sat in my double bull matrix and prayed and spent time with God then a played a little tetris waiting for the feeder to go off. It was dead feeder went off at 4:30 and 4:32 no deer, starting to wonder, 5pm no deer.....hoping for the best I know only 1 hour left of light at best. 5:25 a little 6 point walks in, so I get ready hoping the rest of the deer start coming in and this little buck starts looking to my right with big eyes and ears and I hope he is looking at the one I am looking for. SUre enough he comes in head lowered and hungry, I started waiting for him to come more to my left. I could not control my breathing and was shaking like a leaf, of course when I explain to my wife I was stone cold! He starts quartering away from me and quarters even harder and I say better try now or he might leave I get to full draw he does not know I am there and then it just goes automatic. Pin is on his last rib and then it is gone, I am a finger shooter. I see the lighted nock sticking out his side and hear the crack of ribs and shoulder on the opposite side. He runs 40 yards turns to look at the blind and then I loose him. I wait 10 minutes should wait longer but cannot bring myself to and do not want to lose the light. I walk in the direction of the road and there is the prettiest lighted nock I ever did see right off the road. Still in the buck! Thank you Jesus! So I gut him and I am hunting alone so it takes about 5 attempts to get him in the back of the truck AFTER he's already gutted(time for a game hoist). I am so happy and Blessed and wish all of you the best.
