I posted some pictures of this buck last week and said that he would be my management because he was 6 1/2 and under 150"
This weekend I took my step son down to shoot an 8 point and after he did that, I wanted to go after this buck.
I kept going over the pics with a couple of lease members, trying to be liberal with his measurements, we came up with upper 140's but thought he would be safe.
When he came in yesterday morning and put his head in the corn he didn't look near as big. I made a good double lung shot and he ran 40 yards and crashed in the brush.
This guy had no ground shrinkage. I was sweating the score pretty heavily since I had already shot my one trophy allowed. After all the sweating, measuring, and adding he came up 149 2/8"
Phew!!!
He field dressed 172#. He bottomed the scales live weight but we figured 225 - 230#s.
Mass came out to 33 6/8".
