I went to my buddy's ranch out in Junction for my first bow-hunt of the season. During the morning hunt, this group of 5 gobblers came into the feeder. I drew back, but before I was 1/2 way I got busted and off they went - I had forgotten how keen their eyesight is. However, I hunted the same stand later that day, and the same group of Toms came in. This time I waited for them to have their heads down, eating corn. I quickly drew back and thwaaack! All of my practice seemed to pay off as I made a direct hit on this one and he only went about 5 yards. The whole experience lasted only a minute from the time I saw the turkeys to having one down, and it was awesome! I estimate that this bird was 4 yrs old and he had a 6 inch beard and 1.25 inch spurs. I'm pumped for a good bowhunting season - good luck to all!
