My brother invited me to hunt a his place in Montague last minute. So, ya, get in the stand at 4pm.. Pigs are filling the wheat field behind me. Like 25 when I walked in, then more kept piling out. Feeders are "supposed" to go off at 5. Well 5 comes and goes and nothing goes off.

So I figure no biggie. Im a guest and is what it is. I see deer in the wheat but the pigs are constantly running them. So at 530 I have a small 8 come to eight yards. I let is pass. I could smell him, like crazy rut smell him.

At 550 I figure Im done. Its like a 1/2 mile walk back so I bale out of the stand. I start walking back and get maybe 150 yards and to my left is a mesquite thicket. I had my arrow nocked because pigs were ever where and I figure Id at least arrow one on the way out. Well, as I get 10 yards from the thicket this buck stands up. I cant see much head but I see some mass.

I draw instantly pretty much and LUCKY remember my single pin is set for 45yards (how far the feeder was from the stand I was sitting in- gun hunters) I lower my pin fast below the deer almost and shot through a 10" opening. He runs and I lose track of him.

I look for blood, nothing.. I call my bro and we look for 1.5 hours. NADA.. Not ONE drop of blood. BUT, I find my arrow and its covered. Like covered. I tell him we have to come back in the morning. He had a training at 8 and I begged him to go for 45 minutes at least.

So, we show up, start looking, no blood.. I look out in that wheat field that I shined the night before and see something at 125yards. Then a pig takes off running but the mass stays there. We walk down and see it looks like a deer.

Heading over I get up to it and realize, OMG, that's huge.. I knew it was nice but didn't know it was this. I just couldn't believe it.

So the downside is, the pigs ate almost all of it.. Guts, hams, one front shoulder/ Like cleaned to the bone. Lungs where the only thing left inside. They were shreded from my arrow. Shot was PERFECT.. Plus side is the cape is good and I had the hunt of my lifetime. NO doubt in my mind that was a gift from God. I mean that doesn't happen to me. Right place, right time and not by accident.

Anyway, that's the deal.. Their cameras are broke I think but he never said he saw that deer before. He has killed several over 150 out there. Several thousand acres of low fence.
