    Mason County 8 on ice!

I joined a lease in Mason this year and am loving it. Tons of deer with a few nice ones running around. I haven't been able to get out as much as I had hoped to due to work and kids schedules. This was my second hunt up there. I probably saw 15 different bucks, no does for some reason. Anyway as the sun started going down I noticed a bigger bodied deer coming in. My heart started pounding and I new it was a shooter. I got a new NoCam just before season and have been ready for it to get it's first blood also. He came in to about 16 yards and was broadside. I focused on the heart and squeezed the trigger. Thwack! When the arrow hit he jumped up and kicked with his back legs. I could see heavy blood gushing out of him immediately! It looked like I shot a water balloon full of blood. He took off running and ran out of sight.

I drove back to camp and loaded Trigger up for what I was sure would be a short blood trail. We were on the trail 30 minutes later. To my surprise the deer still ran 125-150 yards. I caught the bottom of the heart. I nick named this deer the JFK buck. One shot and he has three holes in him???

Proud of my boy Trigger. This is his fourth recovery this year.

I was at the lease by myself so I did the best I could with pics.

I got it all on film but I snapped the neck on my tripod when I was setting up. I wasn't able to move the camera much but the video came out OK. I'll get it posted in a few days one I get it edited.

Man I was really surprised to see all these bucks and no does. They weren't sparring or anything. Looked like a late September bachelor group. I was expecting to see them broke up and mad at each other by now.
