another one addicted to bow hunting!

I took a couple of my friends to my Dads ranch in Madisonville to try and start refilling the freezer. After building some ground blinds sat. morning, we hunted that evening and sun. morning. That evening brought nothing but a group of hogs out of bow range. However, the next morning the deer were on the move. I personally only saw a small 8 at the pond I was hunting, but both of my friends got shot opportunities. One of them missed a doe, but the guy pictured below connected. It was his first deer with a bow. He was pumped, and he was still shaking an hour after the shot while we were looking for her. He said the shot was high and a little far back so we gave her a while. As soon as I stepped into the tree line, I saw the infamous white belly about 40 yards away!! The deer was quartering away and he hit her behind the liver, but it exited behind the opposite shoulder. I have never been a believer in mechanicals, but the Rage 2 blade must have done some major damage for her to only run 40 yrds! I might have to give them a try now. He said he has never experienced that much excitment!

I also tried out my new thermocell this weekend. I must say, that thing is amazing!!! An absolute must!

The other pic is looking out of my ground blind. Sorry for the horrible picture quality.

Haha...You didn't know that Madisonville deer like to relax in the ponds with a few cold ones after a long day?

Actually, they hit that pond most every morning and evening. There is one spot (across from my shooting lane) that they use more than any other access point along the shoreline, and that was the only place with a close enough shot and enough cover. I also had another lane to my left opening to a trail they use.
