    Freak spike down!!

I shot this cull at my lease in San Saba county in Cherokee. I was using my Matthews Switchback with a crimson talon broadhead. I usually get a pass-thru with these but my shot was a bit forward and caught some shoulder. It ran about 50 yds and piled up. It had a surprisingly big body (translation: took some effort to load it into my Polaris

That is not a spike since it has a forked antler. Just wondering if it has an injury to the left rear leg?

I bet the meat will taste just fine. Congrats on making a good kill.

        Freak spike down!!

Strange looking sucker, I think it's cool!

So his right side would be considered "unbranched"? I would have been afraid each of those points would be more than 1" long and not considered a spike.

San Saba county is not an ar restriction county. So unbranched doesn't matter, but no definitely not unbranched on right side.

Gotcha! I forget not all counties are under the same regs as us.

yes you are correct - I gave him that name when I saw him on my game cam a few wks ago but couldn't make out that branch on his right side. It was my goal this wknd to get "freaky spike" but the correct name should be "freaky cull"

The way my deer look this year, all peckered out quick after velvet come off, all I can hope for is something a little freaky, nice one to take out.
