Posted this in "Around the Campfire) but just too proud. Wanted to post it here too. Sorry to those that have seen it. Can't help myself..
My 12 year old killed his first deer with a bow on Monday evening. Needless to say I was very proud. I've always sat with him while rifle hunting but sitting with him and watching him draw on a deer just as calmly as a seasoned professional was awesome. He's worked hard practicing for a while now. I set up a family traditions ladder stand at the house and fully rigged the tree with a life line, bow pull up rope and an easy hanger to simulate everything he needs to learn (also make him wear a HSS Safety Harness). Then I put a 3D target at 20 yards and he has been practicing by himself with me watching. Very proud.. Better than when I kill one by myself!
