Heard a close bugle as I was getting to my stand. Heard him a few more times before the sun came up but never saw any elk. Nap and some food and we will get back at it

I sat in a stand over water and didn't see or hear anything. Dad got on a cow and calf but couldn't find the bugling bull. Guides have some spots pegged down that should be good for this evening so hopefully someone in camp will get something tonightComment

Saw my first bull this morning in s meadow before sunrise. We tried calling him in but got no response. Elk are being very quiet and it's been pretty warm.
Another guy in camp shot a bull last night over water so we're probably gonna try that tonight.
Hopefully they get more vocal!

Live Colorado Archery Elk!
Made a horrible terrible awful shot on a bull last night at 30 yards. Back and way high but it hit him. I don't know what happened but it was completely my fault. Tracked him for a bit today but there was very very very little blood. I'm completely sick.
I pray he survives.

At this point I hope the elk lives and they kill and elk with a muzzy healed up in him later this year or next. Hate for him to suffer and his meat get wasted if he dies now. But that's hunting I guess. Just gotta do better next time.Comment
