I made it to the hill top where I sit around 3:00 and got settled in, camera ready, awaiting a semi eventful day. I was really after a buck, since its the last week I will be able to. I was enjoying my time alone to think and reflect on '06 when I got that sense to look back. There was a big mature, really big now that I think about it, doe making her way towards me. I thought about it and decided I would shoot her I got the chance. It was 3:50. I had my head turned around watching her when I heard what sounded like a peacock right in front of me, on the opposite hill. I turned in time to see something running down the hill on a course that would croos in my shooing lane. I couldn't make it out at first, until I saw the bushy tail, when it hit me, a fox. I hit record on the camcorder and went to full draw, waiting for him to make it out of the ditch he was running in. As he walked out of it, I placed my 30 yard pin, knowing the ditch was 28, on his last rib as he was quartering away and let her fly. I followed the fox with the viewfinder until he made it to the bush he expired in. Though out the entire time, he kept crashing into things, making it seem like he would do down in view. I checked the time, it was 3:55 and I had the rest of the day to wait on the buck which never showed up.
Hes at the taxidermists, awaiting on whatever position I decide to have him mounted in. What do you guys think? Anybody have any good ideas or pics of what I should do with him, but for sure hes going to be a full body mount, I wouldn't have it another way. Hes my first predator and I am a very proud person right now. Jackie is just as thrilled, who made the drive out there just to take the multiple pics and kept me company while at the taxis' and after at dinner. Bless her heart, shes a great person, my best friend, my fiance', and I can't wait until the day we are united as husband and wife.
Like I said on video during the post shot commentary, "Life is good!"
