    My best bow buck!

I have seen this buck on TC many times this year and even on the TC at this feeder when I am at the lease and sitting at another feeder! Same as last year with an old mature 10 point that I had panty of pics of but never saw him at a feeder while I was there.

This year has been extremely slow with the rains and all the greenery we have at our place. Saturday morning was no exception as the only thing to come into the feeder early was a very young 5 point. After he gorged on corn, he left and it was dead for about an hour when I look up from my phone(texting another lease member, Denson, to see if he had any action) when I see a pretty good buck coming in from the north at a good trot. I can see him out the side of my window, but through the netting it was hard to see exactly what he was. When I got a chance to grab my binos, I realized it was the big 10 I had targeted for my buck this year. He ambled around in and out. Of the my shooting window. The wind was blowing at a pretty good clip and making my crank up feeder hit the square tubing and making noise as it swung in the wind. Every time it did this he would trunk and leave my shooting window. About now my heart is pounding very hard and loud as I think he will eventually get tired of the noise and leave, especially with a strong wind. Fortunately, he made his way from the left into my shooting window and I had a chance to draw and fling an arrow. Unfortunately, I rushed the shot a little and pulled my bow arm to see how the arrow was going to fly (bad mistake) and it hit too far forward. Fortunately for me I was shooting the new Grim Reaper Hybrid and it did a number on his neck area in front of his shoulder. I immediately saw blood and he ran to my left and out into the 100 acre field behind my blind. I watched him thru the side window of my blind and then opened the door and watched him from the dirt germ my blind sits on. He ran like a scaled ape for quiet a ways, then slowed to a walk and then I saw him go down. With help from Denson and a rather large blood trail, we found him in the overgrown field, but we had to put a second shot into him to put him down. If we would have left him, he would have died in the field, but he was close to our boundary fence and I did not want him to crops over out of our lease.

This is my best buck with a bow and even though I made an extremely poor first shot, I am extremely happy with him. Now it all about does, culls, pigs or possibly one that might be bigger than this one. We are lucky in the fact that the Kent/Stonewall county line cuts thru our lease and that give us an opportunity for a second buck. Enjoy.
