I went up to Kansas Monday for 2 days to scout for a trip I have planned in early November. In the afternoon I scouted a WIHA property that had a bunch of fresh sign and I got the urge to hunt it then. It's still pretty warm in Kansas so I decided to hunt a waterhole on the property and I had a great wind for it. At 6pm I had two does come in and I thought my heart was going to beat through my chest. One finally turned broadside and I somehow made a good shot at 35 yards. I was shaking, what a feeling... She ran out of sight and then after about 20 seconds ran right next to the waterhole and laid down. She died right there after a couple minutes so I didn't have to track. I can't wait to get back up there in a few weeks to hunt a buck, that farm country is somethin else.
