Decided to try something new and booked Extreme Bowhunting. Already plan on going back next year!
Every hunt on this ranch we saw wide variety of animals! Not a "shooter" every hunt, but definitely a lot of animals. Friday evening, i saw a variety of decent rams and ewes and decided to wait on taking my ewe. Saturday morning, the weather cooled off and immediately the woods came alive. I could hear animals all around me and had a young aoudad, a ton of whitetail and a few sika does out in front of me. As the sun came up a little bit, I realized that there was a second aoudad (much bigger than the one out there) staying back in the brush. After a few minutes, he stepped out and i knew it was a shooter! I drew back and tried to calm my nerves. Released an arrow right as he turned broadside and saw the blood coming out of him as he took off. I decided to stay put and hunt the rest of the hunt........which I then had a trophy sika, an old sika buck (pictured below), axis (who didn't stick around long), and whitetail come in shortly there after.
They came and picked me up and Kaleb put his dog Champagne to work. Within a couple minutes the dog had found my trophy only 40 yards from where i stuck him.
The next morning i had a huge group of rams and sheep come in and i stuck a mature ewe (pics below) pretty early. Overall, it was a successful hunt!
As for the rest of the group, two of them were on the meat hunt and one was on the exotic hunt like me. One guy on the meat hunt slung an arrow at ewe, blackbuck doe, and a bobcat over the weekend, but couldn't connect. The other meat hunter couldn't get an axis doe in range, but saw a ton of animals. Lastly, the other exotic hunter wounded a hog and drew back on a blackbuck, but couldn't get an ethical shot with all the other animals around.
Thanks for reading!
