We have been hunting since he was 10 years old and never seem to connect on a deer. Something would always happen and the deer would spoke off or just not a mature buck or ect....
Well he is 18 now and he decided that he want to try bow hunting. We bought him the Diamond Infinite Edge this summer and he started to practice. We got him setup and he started grouping pretty good.
Got to the lease Friday and pulled the cards form the game cam. He was studing the card hard for the deer he wanted. We moved this feeder 3 months ago and there have been a lot of Axis showing up. This is a low fence place and we all no the the deer will roam. You never know what is going to show up.
So we get in the double tree stand at 6am Saturday morning. No moon and very dark outside with light rain. At about 7am the feeder goes off and still to dark to see. So at 730am a small 8 pointer comes out and he is not liking something. He looks around and walks off. I am starting to think it will be another one of those hunts. 8am comes and he said he sees a deer behind a Cedar tree. 1 minute later 5 does come barreling in and right to the corn. He picks out the biggest one (which is behind the feeder) and stands up to draw. The doe on the right sees him and bolts to the right and stops. He draws and the doe is right behind the feeder leg. I said wait (which seem like forever) and she clears. He let the Rage fly and hits her double lung. Blood flies and she jumps and bolts off. Big high fives, he finally gets the jobs done. So proud of him and with a bow at that.
So we head back to the tailer and watch the video and see that it is a good hit. Get my coffee and walk back out there to start the tracking. We track blood about 20 feet and there is alot of blood and then it stops. It has been raining and I think it washed away. So we scout the area and nothing. Now starting to think the worst......So the rest of the party shows up to help. One of the guys finds blood 50 feet from the catus and there is a trail thru some thick brush. I walk thru and it comes to a clearing and no blood again. Start scouting around and find her under a Cedar tree another 60 feet. High five again.
I did video with a Gopro and probably not the best camera to use. Would have been better to zoom in for the shot. Does anyone know if there is some sort of software that can do this?
