Several months ago I bought a Mathews Monster 6 from a fellow TBH'r and I had yet to break it in. Well yesterday I decided to head over to lake Grapevine and try to locate some pigs. I had found a spot a couple months ago that holds pigs however it is thick and makes shot opportunities near impossible. I make my way the 2 miles to the location to discover the hogs are already wallowing in the creek.

I made my way down the creek staying against the tall grass along the waters edge I make it to about 100 yards from the group of pigs when I hear the brush cracking and a boar comes out of the brush and throws himself in the water at about 40 yards from me. He then proceeds to use his back legs to push himself through the water and mud. He finally came to all 4's and walks away without any shot opportunity. I proceeded toward the the main group of pigs wallowing in the waters edge. I made it to about 50 yards when the grass shakes and a pig grunts to my right at about 5 yards and the pigs in front of me trot into the brush. I pressed on and see 2 more pigs in a opening in the grass I make it to 20 yards and it's a completely open shot. I pick the only arrow that is tipped with a 125 grain swacker broadhead. The pig is around 50 pounds and is quartering to me and is on a hill about 5 feet above me I draw and release. The 488 grain arrow makes a complete pass through from behind the shoulder exiting the rear ham. The pig made it 75 yards and piled up. I finally broke in the new pig setup.

I will say that this monster 6 setup is great for pigs but dang heavy for spot and stalk hunting.
I also will not be shooting pigs alone 2 miles In, it makes for a long and miserable trek back to the truck!
Was so hot that everything was near the water.
