It's about time!

No, didn't get the elusive buck but i finally got another hog. The last hog was way back in June of this year and I hadn't seen another hog in the day light since that time. There has been a lot of hog sign and a lot of pictures of hogs but all at night. I thought with all the deer hunting I have done I would see some pigs sooner are later, well it was later, much later. The hogs had really been hitting one of my feeders every night so I sat there Friday afternoon. Two does walked by and kept going ignoring the corn as usual. Six o'clock came and I deciced I would sit awhile and see if the hogs would come. At 6:10 I heard the tell tale sound of a group of hogs heading my way. First about 20 small pigs came in and began to devour the corn. Next four big ones came in and hogs were moving around every where. Two big ones moved off to the side on some hand corn so I turned on the light and took a 17 yd shot. Because of the bad light I could not tell where I hit, but the squeal sounded like a good hit. Hogs ran in all directions and soon all was quiet. After climbing down and looking for sign it did not look to good. I found the back part of the arrow with a small amount of blood but no real blood trail to follow. I called my good buddy Mike (Knothead) and asked if he would bring Dixie his dog. Mike said sure, I will be right there and about 20 minutes later Mike and his step dad Johnny came with Dixie. We put Dixie on the small amount of blood and she went right to the hog about 10 yards off the trail in the brush. I had no idea how big the hog was but it turned out to be my biggest to date. It was a fat sow that weighed in at 175 pounds. Thanks to Mike,Johnny and for sure Dixie for a job well done.
