Great story, and congatulations! I hear a lot of bow hunters shoot high the first time. A buddy of mine did it twice in one day last season. Missed both deer. I guess they look different in the wild even though we might shoot at 3-D targets in the off-season. But you got it done!! Good job!

Longhorn, now you are hooked. I have hunted out of that same stand and had the same shot on my first black buck, except I got lucky and got an arrow off before he winded me. Good looking ram for sure. This time of the year is the best for blackbuck because they will actually come in close enough for a shot a lot more often than any other time of the year. I would go back soon, like in the next month or two for that blackbuck. Welcome to the jungle. Awesome.

Congratulations on a great animal. Excellent read as well.

I'm not expert by any means of the imagination, but will admit I think a high shot is the most common. In fact, most of my misses/bad shots are in fact high. I attribute it to two things (one I must keep working on).

                        1) Animals ducking
                        2) Me not focusing on a very small spot low on the animal.

                        Again, congratulations on your trophy!
