This is a late post and a long read!
Well this hunt started back in the spring when my girlfriend wanted to get into bowhunting. So I took to the GS classifieds and found a Alpine Micro bow for her. We got it shipped to us and started getting it set up for her. Well we got pregnant and had our baby girl in September which put her practicing on hault. After she was cleared from the Dr after Claire was born she was geared up ready to start shooting again.
We got her a Spott Hogg thumb release, I picked up a like new WB off the GS and she picked out some extreme 4 pin sights. She started shooting and was shooting very well, so we went to Action Archery in Palestine and I finished tweaking her bow and got her pulling 40# at 23'' DL her GT arrows finished weight is 330 grains. She picked out her own BH and she chose the RamCats.
Well 2 weeks ago she was in the hunters seat and we were after a spike or 3 Point or a buck I call "low side 8". Well we didn't have much luck that evening.
So Friday the 29th rolls around and she tells me that she wanted to go to Canton with her sister and aunt, and I said ok well I guess I will go hunting with out you. She quickly said I would rather go hunting.
We were super late getting to the Cedar blind that over looks a feeder, but we beat the feeder so I figured we would still see something. Being that its Thanksgiving weekend in Leon Co you are allowed to kill your doe's. Feeder went off at 4:45pm and I hit the horns together and no sooner as I set them down you could hear a running deer in the woods. Out steps a 3 pointer we want killed off this lease. So the buck works around the blind she draws and he spooks, I think he heard the arrow on the WB. But she came to full draw buck comes around the feeder and chases a doe around. That doe jumps in the feeding pen and the buck wont come back into her shooting lane. I asked if she could shoot the doe but she said " I want to shoot the buck" lol, I said ok then. Well 2 min 45 sec go by and she is still at full draw. I help her let down and all the deer spook, nothing that you can do in that situation when you have a noisy WB on your bow
! The buck chased the doe out into a large pasture and about 5-7 minutes later I picked up my Primos hardwoods grunter and gave a couple grunts and tickled my horns together and the doe's came running back to the feeder. Chasity drew her bow back again and shot an adult doe at 23 yards quartering away!
The emotions filled the ground blind and she was so excited and was I. I was shaking like I just shot a big 160" buck! As the doe ran off I could see blood pumping out of her side. I went over to the first spot of blood to see what color it was and OH MY MY MY it was a bright pink color and plenty of it. We walked back to the truck to put some of the stuff up and grab some more clothes and we were on the track. We found the arrow 15 or so yards from the spot of impact, it was covered in blood from BH to nock, and we trailed right to her about 70-80 yards from the feeder and she ran the long way so the doe ran 100 yards or so. None the less Chasity is hooked and is ready to go get another one! Here are the pics from the hunt!
The last pic is the entrance and the pic above is the exit!
