Personal Biggest Bow Buck (Long Read)

After work this Friday afternoon I headed out to our lease and got there around 6 or so. It was too late to get in the stand so I decided to set a couple hog traps. Sat morning I get in my stand about six or so. At seven my feeder goes off and all I have at my feeder is a couple dove and two bunnies. Around 7:30 or so I see two does walking in. They walk around the pin a couple times just staring at the corn under the feeder. Finally one jumps in and starts eating. The other just keeps walking around the pin. I hadn't shot a doe yet this year so I decide I'm going to take the doe that's eating at the feeder. Every single movement I made they both heard because there wasn't any wind at all. She finally turns broadside slightly quartering away. I get my bow drawn and let it fly. I hear the Rage Hypodermic hit her with a loud smack and I see the arrow exit the other side. She turns and jumps the fence where she came in and runs about 15 yards and falls right in sight. I as pumped. Second deer this year to fall in sight with a Rage. Saturday afternoon I decided to sit in my wife's rifle stand since no one has sat in it since we set it up. I brought along my Foxpro and set it in the brush over by the feeder and climbed the 30ft or so cliff that the rifle blind is on top of. When its time for the feeder to go off nothing happens so I start playing around with the Foxpro. I couldn't get anything to come in. So I decide it's a wash and go back to camp. Around ten that night I went out and checked the traps and found one of the traps had a decent size hog in it. Shot him hung him up and back strapped him. So Sunday morning I go sit in my stand again and there is a little bit of a breeze and it's about 5-10 degrees warmer than the morning before. I wasn't sure if I was going to see anything at all since the previous day I shot the doe and drove my truck in and loaded her up. Well around 6:30 or so a small buck shows up. He eats until the feeder goes off. So he scampers off and about 15 minutes later I see a deer thru the trees walking up. At first I think it's one of the 8 points we have been watching the past couple of weekends. So I really did't pay much attention to him and he jumps into the pin. After a couple minutes he gets to where I can really see his head. I count his points and 1...2....3.. get to 8 and and I'm like wait a minute 9 and 10. I couldn't believe it so much I got my binoculars and looked thru them at 10 yards away just to make sure I wasn't seeing things. So my heart starts pumping like crazy. He gets to where its about a 8 yard broadside shot. The wind is blowing about 5 mph or so towards him. I start to draw and he looks up. I'm about half drawn trying to hold it. After about 10 seconds he starts eating again. I come to full draw and I must have brushed the back of my stand but he heard me and hauls out there. I couldn't believe that just happened. So I'm at myself for not buying the most expensive silent clothes you can possibly buy and guess what after about 10 minutes he's back. This time he is drinking out of my water trough at about 12 yards away and the wind seemed to just stop right when I needed to draw. I drew aimed small and let her fly. Heard the smack of the rage and he took off. He ran about 20 yards and I heard him crash into some brush. I was sooooo happy I couldn't believe he gave me a second chance. I get out of stand after about 30 minutes and walk a huge loop around from where he went because he ran towards I usually walk to get to my stand. I make it back to camp and hang out for another 30 minutes and drive over to the stand. I climb into the pin get my arrow and blood is all over it. I see a instant blood trail and walk about 20 yards and find him in some brush. I jumped up and down like a little kid. Ha. What a great weekend. To top it off I get home and my wife has a Jerky cannon kit and racks for me for my birthday. Weekend I will never forget. In the pictures I had to prop the deer up with a log and a broken arrow I had in the back of my truck since no one was there to take my picture. The picture of the skinned deer is of the doe entrance with the rage hypodermic. I shot the buck with a rage chisel tip. Sorry about the long read.

Never apologize for a "long read" when there is great success at the end....a doe a hog and a nice buck with a huge hole in his side. Great work.
