This was a rifle hunt but I figure I'll post it anyway. After 8 days of seeing nothing but a few does, I finally got a Buck to come in yesterday. I came about a week too early for my hunt but those were the only days i had available. The temps were too high, the rut hadn't started and the deer hadn't been moving much. A friend of a friend is an outfitter and let me hunt on his place and take a cull buck. I think I'm going to come back next year and do one of his outfitted hunts. He's got some monsters roaming around. We got a couple inches of snow and it got down to 6 degrees. Sitting in that is never fun. It was a really tough hunt. I didn't have a key to the gate and had to walk about 1200 yards through a turned over crop field. Doing that 4 times a day sucked! I was actually going to fly home yesterday but canceled my flight to hunt one more day. Glad I stuck around. we didn't have a scale but he's in the 275-300 range. Huge bodied deer.
