First deer kill with a bow. Finally!!!

Its been a long 3 or 4 years coming. I got my first bow kill on a hog out here at Diamond "C" a few years ago. Shot several pigs over the last few years and lost a few.

I have taken 3 shots a white tail doe before at my place in Decatur. Screwed up each time. Kinda like when you get buck fever. Same thing when your fixing to atttempt to kill your first deer with a bow.

Needless to say it has shyed my away from drawing back on any other animal then a pig. Especially out here at Skylers.

Yesterday morning Skyler dropped me at a road blind with no feeder. Corned the road and left. I wont lie. I was back asleep before the sun came up and continued snoozing off and on till later in the morning. Around 915 I woke up and had a sheep and small sika buck eating corn. I woke up and situated to finally have something to watch cause nothing had been there each time I woke up from sawing logs. Im exhausted with everything going on in my life right now. Dont judge me

Watched these guys for about 15 mins when this sika doe started making her way down the road. She decided to stick around so I prepared for to take a shot if she gave me the chance.

The little buck left and it was just her and the sheep. She stayed back for a while but slowely started inching closer to my comfortable yardage to take a shot on her.

At the last minute I realized I could prop my phone up in the corner of the blind window and shoot video. So I did.

Camera rolling I began to do everything you can possibly do that you shouldnt when in the blind. I banged the metal chair two or 3 times. Coughed, sneezed, farted and whatever else I could manage to do to draw attention to myself. Luckily she didnt spook off, none of it really bothered her. But her attention was focused on my blind window.

She came on to about 20 yards eating with the sheep. She presented me a quatering away shot and I decided to draw. Well of course she heard it and turned and looked. I held for 5 minutes on her and she never would give me the same shot, so I let down.

Now I am peeved cause I know from past experience that after I have had to draw and hold that long that I will screw up the shot from my arm being tired.

After a few minutes she turned broad side facing the sheep but over lapping it. No shot!. The sheep took a step back from her and I saw the window. I drew back and she heard it again. Turned and looked at me for about 30 seconds and then went back to eating. Second later she turned cornering away and I put my pin in the pocket and let her rip.

She jumped and took off. I could not see if the shot was good or not. Went back and watched the video after calming down from the rush and still could not tell. But she ran off like she was hit.

I gave her 30 minutes and went out to check for blood. Sure enough I found some. There was a good trail at first but when she rounded the corner I could not find anymore. Luckily I was able to look out in the field and she was laying there.

She ran about 60 yards and piled up. Got a good shot on her and could not be happier with the way it turned out.

So now I have had my first bow kill and first deer kill at Diamond "C". The many times I have been here over the years I still cant say enough good things about Skyler and the ranch. LOVE me some "C"

I will have to edit the video and post it when I get a chance. Thought it came out pretty good for a last second decision and with my phone.

Shot a hog early yesterday afternoon and it ran about 20 yards and piled up. Shot another pig spotted one at dark but must have hit high cause I got a complete pass through but it was a long blood trial with no luck finding it. Gonna go back out and look maybe after everyone comes back in from the morning hunt.

Sitting on the porch drinking coffee and posting this. First time I have ever beem tagged out by Sunday Morning.

    Its a good feeling!!!!
