I got to give a lot of credit, if not all the credit to my dad in turning me into the man I am today. I grew up watching him work to the bone as a designer/drafter for the oilfield and always having to chase work to keep a roof over our heads. Even so he was always been there for me teaching me things along the way that I hold dear to me heart to this very day. Besides showing me how to be the best dad that I can be, he also passed on his love for the outdoors to me. For that, I will forever be in debt to him.
He was raised a rifle hunter and has strictly been one all the way up till a few years back when I talked him into getting a crossbow. That first year he killed a doe and hog with it. Since then he has yet to connect on anything.
A few weeks back I got all of our stands set up on our place in Madison County.

My new stand area

Opening morning came and my dad was able to connect on a big ol spike that needed a culling out of the herd...his first buck with his crossbow.

Later on that afternoon I was able to connect on a big fat doe at my new set up. The deer seem to love it (covered up all morning and afternoon with deer) and I feel good about this spot producing for me big time as the season wears on.

Just another beautiful day under the open sky with my ol man. It feels good passing on my love for bow hunting to my dad. One day I might be able to talk him into getting a bow but if not, that's ok...I think we are both enjoying spending a little extra time in the deer woods together.
As the chase continues...Till Next Time!
