    white tail rut

Any body know the start of rut this year for Texas

There isn't a specific date, unlike the beginning of deer season. People say Thanksgiving, is "The Rut" but that's just a guide. Last year at our lease, they were chasing pretty hard around the last week in October.

Depends on what part. East texas generally starts mid/end October to early November. South texas usually doesn't start til mid to late December.

Go to the TPWD website. They have info on the rut for each region of Texas. With graphs and everything. Based on when does are bred. I would say generally speaking (outside of South Texas) the rut is late Oct to Thanksgiving. Somewhere in there you'll see em chasing hard. And mid October to late October you can rattle em up.

This ^^^ the does usually cycle about the same time each year depending on the region. (Exception being in extremes of range condition).

Observed behavior will often depend on the weather and moon b/c it pushes more of the activity into the daytime
