With the trucks loaded to the gills with supplies, we headed to the lease friday afternoon to continue working on our cabin, feeders, stands, etc. Installed a temporary wooden deck made of pallets due to the amount of rain we received over the past couple of days. Installed a window A/C unit, and a counter top cleaning station.
Friday's supper menu consisted of grilled backstrap, corn on the cob, beer battered red fish, onion rings, boudin stuffed fallow backstrap, and a vegetable medley. That was all washed down with The National Beer of Texas.
After supper, we decided to take a nice leisurely stroll on the ATVs when all of a sudden a Texas Dall jumps out in front of us... nearly running into the front of one of the atvs. We haven't seen one on our lease since we've been on it. So a spot and stalk was in que for the following morning.
Equipped with my bow and a posse of 5, we set foot into the direction we saw him last night. Starting at the head of a ravine, we traveled slowly down the draw. He finally was spotted laying under some brush facing us about 65 yards away. Leaving the guys in the draw, I snuck my way back on top and got within 20 yards above him. With a quartering-to shot, I put my pin on the frontside of his facing shoulder and let the arrow fly. He traveled 15-20 yards and expired.
I'll add the video once I get it emailed to me.
