Well, my second bow kill in 3 days. I shot a turkey with my daughter on Thursday, then this fox yesterday morning. What a great end to a week!
Here's the story......
Nice morning with Turkeys gobbling all over so I find some brush to hide in and stick the decoy out. When it gets pretty close to prime time, I give a few calls from the turkey call. One response back, exciting hunt developing, but then nothing but silence. We have seen a lot of hogs around the area and I see some movement in the brush. It was small but I was ready. However, I quickly realized it was not a hog but this beautiful gray fox. He strolled into the decoy and ended up positioned directly behind it. I quickly drew back and flung the arrow. I saw sparks fly up as my broadhead hit the hard rocks of the area we hunt and i see the fox take off. He let out a little squeal, but i thought i had missed low. I was so mad, thinking I had rushed the shot, maybe I had jerked, replaying the shot in my head, but after no more responses from the turkeys for a good 45 minutes, I decided to go find my arrow. As I began to look for my arrow, I noticed a trail of blood. I followed it, it got brighter and bigger. I knew he was down, and sure enough he hadn't even gone 20 yards. I was beyond pumped. I had missed one during deer season and was excited I can now cross fox off the list!
I'll have to post pics one at a time, iPad, sorry
