Been pretty busy lately and hadn't had the time to get this one up. About a week after Thanksgiving I got lucky and stuck one of our hit list cull bucks. Took 5 sits to finally get him to come into the hand corn. This buck was a feeder hog and just wouldn't come in. My brother suggested I do what he did with his buck and disconnect the battery to the feeder. Following morning I spotted him at first light about 60 yds from the blind. At 6:47 he left the sendero and made his way to the feeder. When he finally realized feeder wasn't gonna go off he slowly made his way in. By 7:07 my arrow had been released! I was sitting in a tower blind and watched him run off with my arrow dangling off his shoulder. Shot was a bit forward and didn't look like I had much penetration. Got that nasty feeling in the gut but was lucky enough to watch what looked like the stiff legged drop, through the brush, not 1 minute after the shot. Unsure if he was dead or not I decided to play it safe and waited an hour before getting down from the blind. Sure enough there he laid not 40 yards from where he was shot. The Grizz did the trick and managed to bust through his shoulder and into his cavity. I was shooting from 15' up, with no exit wound so there wasn't a drop of blood out. Regardless of headgear I'm proud to outwit another big mature buck! Live weight 215 and we're thinking 6-7-1/2. This is the 3rd season seeing him and had him as a 4-5yr. old back then. I really wanted this buck last year, he had a gnarly extra brow. When we finally met late in the season he had broken off 3 tines including that extra brow. Decided to pass even though I knew he needed to go.
