Probably worst season I can remember for our lease near magnolia. Hardly any rutting activity that I witnessed. Saw only 2 illegal bucks during day light. Several small bucks on camera at night only. only 1 legal buck on camera at night. Saw 1 hog during day light hours. Last year was better and that was after a major first fire.

Hard hunting here in Brazos, for us anyway. Taking does off an mldp property and didn't get anywhere near to filling all the tags. However, I did take the biggest buck of my life so far. Pictured in my avatar.

Biologist told us that everyone was having a hard time with quotas this season. This was our sixth year of management.

I know!! We were all pretty jealous. Third hunt in new spot, and buck just walked straight up to him. The story made me sick!!!! He said he shot him at 20yrds. I told him it didn't count because he used his rifle instead of his bow. I held strong and used my bow all year with no luck. Got some good footage of a few that just weren't old enough yet thou!! I took a 120" last year with my bow. I will have to get my wife to send the pics. I don't have them on my phone. Im in Henderson county and had the most deer this season than ever before. Buddy hunts in Nac county and he had many to choose from. Our land in west texas however is how your describing.

Yes in Shelby county we saw more deer than ever before, and we didn't see a single deer in Coleman this year.
