I'm fortunate to get to hunt with a great friend down in Hebbronville a few times each year. With work and other obligations I haven't been down since October. This trip we were able to call in coyotes, stalk javelinas, put some doe meat in the freezer and topped the trip off with a great management buck. This is the third year we've seen this buck and he went down a little this year. He was hard to age as he was smalled bodie but we aged him at 6.5. He came out Tuesday afternoon at 4:15 and gave me a 20 yard broadside shot. Double lunged him with the T3 and he only ran 40 yards. It was drizzling a bit but we thought we heard him crash in the brush. Waited 30 minutes and retreived the arrow and didn't see a whole lot of blood. Eased back to the truck to wait another anxious 30 minutes. Drizzle was picking up so we started where he was hit and followed an easily trackable trail that he ran down. 40 yards and there he was head propped up in the brush. After some excited high fives and grins we put hands on him. I'm proud to have him hang on my wall! We were thinking he'd be close to P&Y and unfortunately we were right. Gross 129 6/8" and net 124 1/8". Here's a few pics to highlight the trip!
