2nd bow kill, first whitetail doe

Frist wanted to post that I only have been bow hunting since this past Feb. I got a bow on TBH a Mathews Ultra Max, 29 in draw, 68 lbs. The person who i got it from said he killed over 20 deer. Since starting to shoot with a bow again after 20 years plus I have shot 8 Robin hoods. Now for the hunting.

My first bow kill was at Benson Farm and Ranch. Ryan and the guys there are great. You should check them out. On Sept 15th I went Fallow doe hunting and got my first bow kill. Using my Mathews and Gold tip arrows with a Crimson Talon broadhead. BTW, these are the best broadheads. The entry hole was 2 in going in and coming out. Shot the doe at 30 yards, she went down at 30 yrds. Thanks Ryan and Mike T.

Now for the whitetail doe. I went on Friday to fill up the feeders between Florene and Jarrel. I got there around 4:30 pm and was not planning on hunting just filling up the feeders. In fact I was wearing my office cloths, slacks and dress shoes. I even forgot my hunting boots. So I filled up the feeders and decided to go ahead and sit in my blind. I had an extra pair of camo warm ups in the car so I put them on over my work cloths. At 5:06 my feeder went off. At 5:15 7 doe's and a forkhorn buck came in. This is the most deer I have seen all at once, most I ever seen before was only 2 does, or 2 yound bucks.

So I had one of the older does give me a broadside shot at 20 yrds. I shot her around 5:20 pm. Again with my Mathews but switch to Axis 400 but used the Crimson Talons again. I found her 10 min later no more then 30 yrds away. Again what a great entry and exit wounds.

Sorry for the long write up but I am a bow hunter for life now and BTW, I have not picked up any of my guns since Feb. Now for a Hog hunt this coming Friday. Hope to get my first hog with a bow.

Thanks. I shoot my bow, read about bow hunting, read about bows, tune my bow......dream about my next hunt....etc.....
I have gotten two of my friends into bow hunting now. Wish I started sooner. Every bow shooter and hunter I meet are down to earth good people. Glad to be part of the family.

                Congrats, dude!

                That's a wonderful feeling isn't it? Good for you ! ! !

BTW, I too loved the Crimson's, however, I tried the Rage 2 blade b/c they fly just like target tips. ALSO, I have killed 6 animals with the same 3 heads. They do not get wrecked like the Crimson's thin blades and actually cut a larger swipe. I just sharpen them and good to go.

I killed my first wt w/ a Crimson and will never forget that feeling !

                My two cents.

Congrats again and welcome to the sport.

Thanks all. No pics this time, kids broke the digital camera. I wish I had a new one cause it was a sight to see my deer hanging from wooden swing set I got my wife a couple year ago and her standing there shaking her head.

Yea, not the best field cleaning job in slacks. Could not wait till I got home to change into better work cloths for the skinning piece.
