Finally got an Axis!!!!!! I have a good amount of axis on the property I hunt but I can never get them to come in to my stand area. This morning I was going to put out my new game cam when I got her. I always take my bow with me when ever I go out whether to hunt or not. Well after 100+ times of never needing it, I finally got to. I was walking to my stand and I saw some movement about 100 yards out. I immediately took a knee and moved behind some brush. As luck would have it there were about 12 axis making there way toward me. I was worried cause I didn't have many clear lanes, it's real thick were I hunt. Anyhow, I decided to take the first one that gives me a shot. When they got to about 40 yards one of them got a whiff of my scent and barked. My heart sank and so began the shakes and doubts. They stood there looking, stomping and sniffing for 2-3 min and then started moving again, but now they were going more to my left. Which kept them at 35 yards out or further. The only good thing was they were heading toward a good open lane. I hti a spot with my rnge finder at 34 yards and this doe stepped out at around 37 yards. I got a shot off on her and was not sure if I hit her in a good spot, it looked really low. She ran off and I sat there for a very long hour kicking my self for not aiming a little higher. I finaly got up and checked the spot and immediately I was assured that she'd be down, there was good heart blood everywhere. My '99 PSE FrieFlight has done me right once again. I trailed her for about 60 yards and there she laid. Finally after 2 years on this property I got my Axis. My next goal is an Axis bull.
