    Anyone Hunting around Mineola?

I normally hunt West of DFW, but grandfather has me lined up in East Texas outside of Mineola. Grandparents live in Mineola and I always enjoy Thanksgiving with them. This will allow me to visit them a little longer through the weekend so it's "kind of" ok if I come home empty handed.

Was just curious as to the activity out there. Hunting 700+ acres for free, so no guarantee. Owner says hogs are a problem with a few mature bucks running around. Going to have to get out the pop up since I haven't seen the property and don't want to rely on a climber. Maybe stalk at night if going for the hogs.

Any suggestions for a last minute set up with only 3 days to hunt?

    Thanks for any input.

Mainly bow....but figured I would bring a rifle for pigs.
I have never seen the property. Figured I would use my first day to get around the property and check it out/scout. Mobile by foot.

I am about 5 miles southwest of Mineola. BTLowry is about 3 miles east of me. Deer are moving right now. Friend's wife killed a nice buck last weekend and another friend missed a nice one. Both between me and Mineola.
Remember Wood County and Smith County are both AR counties.

Antler Restriction Counties. 13 inch rule applies on bucks.

Doh!...where's my sign? I need to put it around my neck.

Thanks for the clarification....should have known what AR stood for.

No problem. I like the outcome of AR, I can see the results. We never had the nice deer like you see now when I was a kid. But it will get you in trouble if you don't pay attention. Lots of Game Wardens running around Wood County.

My grandfather has 400 acres East of Mineola, I've never hunted it. What size are the mature deer in that area?
