It has been an EPIC year so far for End Of The Road Outdoors. My buck the Hardball 8pt makes the 7th mature buck taken this year on film by our team, and we are pumped up!
I will have to say it is good to have such nice friends. My friend RPB (Ryan) lets me hunt on his property in trade for some manual labor and I must say it is an awesome deal!
We have been watching this deer for a few years now and we decided it was time to send him to the Big Oat Patch in the Sky!
After several hunts Oz_Ag (Jeff) and I felt like we had this Big Ole Good'in patterned. We slipped in to the tent blind as stealthy as we could, and after some crafty calling, the heavy Hardball 8 showed up. With Oz_Ag behind the camera, and the deer standing broadside, I told myself that I have this buck dead to rights at 36yrds. Check with my camera man, "you got'em" "yep" and the arrow is released, swing and a miss . But, he comes back in and a few minutes later takes some carbon in the rib cage.
Here is where it gets crazy!
The second shot was bad also and it hit him far back.
I did not know till the hunt was over that I was having some equipment failure that was causing my arrow flight to be very bad on this hunt.
So we decided, When In Doubt, Back Out!
After a six hour wait, we started the track job and 150yrds later, I had my biggest buck to date.
Official Score = 117 6/8"
To see the video footage of the wild and crazy hunt, keep an eye out for the up and coming EOTROutdoors DVD due to be releasing in the spring!
