Heck of a deer, congrats. Amazing how we beat ourselves up over what ended up being nothing. Shows that you are passionate about your hunting and always wanting to do things right. Never have been a fan of waiting over night to recover a deer. Give them an hour or so max and if they are gonna die they will have died. After an hour you should be able to find them (99 % of the time). Glad everything turned out for the good. Heck of a deer.

Thanks guys. I hate to leave them overnight and seldom do, but when all signs point to a gut shot I think it is the best approach.

I disagree on the 1 hr max. It all depends on where they are hit.
