Went to my local place which has become "home" to two sows with litters. Got in the stand at 7:15 and just enjoyed the evening and the breeze. Game cam said the pigs had been showing up anywhere from 7 to 8:30, so I was ready. Finally, at 9 I see one small black piglet coming to the feeder--then the floodgates opened and I had the two sows and their litters under the feeder. Took maybe a minute for the bigger sow to get right, and I drew and let 'er fly. Nockturnal went to the spot--and most of the pigs vacated the location--but 4-5 just squatted down in place and froze. After about 30 seconds, they trotted off.
Got down, arrow in the dirt under the feeder, bloodied from tip to nock. Not a bit of a blood trail however, and 20' from the feeder clearing, the grass/weeds are mid-thigh to belt high. No trailing in that in the dark, even with my big light, so I call it a night.
Went back this afternoon to do a buzzard check--not a thing, but did discover that the south field--at least it used to be a field, is full up with thistles 4-6' tall-not something I'm gonna walk into.
Here's the gang--sow on the right is the one I shot.

And, here's what was at the feeder about 30 minutes before I came looking for buzzards. Seems to me I need to take the shotgun and some 3" mag #2 rounds.
