I rolled in from The Land of Oz this evening after making another trip to try to get one of the brutes killed. I spent most of November chasing the Midwest monsters but I was unable to score as I passed several 150" deer looking for a better one. I had two deer that would go in the 160's but was unable to connect as one was too late and the other was in thick cover. I returned home to take my 10 y.o. to our Uvalde ranch to try to get his first deer with a bow during his Thanksgiving break and spent a week there and Kyle was able to connect on his first deer a nice starter 2 yo cull. I then went back to work thinking about the big KS bucks and had to wait till Dec. 17th to head back up. I brought Kyle with me on this trip and he sat with me each afternoon. I had several slow hunts with only young deer sightings but did notice this deer coming in on a corn spot on a 3-5 day rotation. I hunted him hard but was unable to lay eyes on him as he hadn't returned. I told Kyle I was changing my luck and putting my new Destroyer 350 down for my lucky last years Destroyer 350. The next day I sat in a snow storm till 11 am with only 2 small bucks spotted. I returned to the house and ate and got my little man dressed and headed back to the stand at 2 pm. At 5pm I had two does come in and after awaking Kyle, had the big 10 finally show. I made a 30 yd shot with a Wackem broadhead and gave the old boy a dirt nap. The GOOD LORD blessed us with a 171 inch Stud
Christmas came early for me as I can now get ready for some South Texas rut. By the way, Merry Xmas to all
