    Lost stuck hog

Arrowed a big boar today but the Rage only penetrated about 5 inches. No blood for 50 yards the spotty blood. Anyone else have this issue with a rage and an old boar?

I use the rage for deer, and slick tricks or stinger for the hogs. 26 1/2" draw makes it tough for me to get a rage through a 150+lb boar.

what is your arrow weight? I feel that has as much do with with penetration as the bh

What is your draw weight and draw length? I've shot the 40KE Rage with good success and good penetration. The cut is 1 1/2" instead of 2".

I just shot a big boar a few days ago and I hit him a little far forward. I am shooting muzzy 3 blades now and because they cut on contact it went right through his shoulder and into his heart and lung. He only ran 100 yds with about 8 inches of penetration and a ton of thick red blood. In my opinion, especially for hogs, because they are so hard to penetrate I think that the cut on contact tips are the best way to go. Not only to you get extra penetration they are more cost effective if you lose them. Here is a pic of the entrance wound Of the hog I shot with my muzzy. Click image for larger version

I've lost my last hog with a Rage broad head. Found the arrow, complete passthrough on an 80 pound or so boar my buddy had already hit behind the shoulder with a Rage. Lots of blood the first 60 to 80 yards, like a path of it, then fizzled out to drops and we never did find it. It swam a creek and kept going. Two Rage in the chest and no dead animal to show for it. The two I shot with fixed heads are in an ice chest right now. That was my last Rage, the others were carried off by hogs that we couldn't find, and that one went in the burn barrel at camp. No more mechanical heads for me.

My draw is 28.5 and the rage was 100 grain. This boar was really big and old, probably 200 lbs or more. I've heard the boar have a shield protecting their vitals so I'm thing from no on the 3 blade muzzy might give better penetration. Thanks for your ideas.

I use the 3 blade Rage and have never had one that didn't pass through except the one I shot straight on facing me.
