Two hogs go down in Stephens County, Texas. One falls to a broadhead I was trying for the first time, the Ramcat. The other falls to my old faithful Slick Trick Magnum. Both shots are fatal, but the difference in bloodtrails is night and day. Is the difference in bloodtrails due to the broadhead or to shot placement? You decide.
This is the longest self-hunt video I've ever made. I normally try to keep my videos as short as possible, but I particularly wanted to include the bloodtrail footage on this one. If you're not interested in bloodtrailing, you can bail at the six minute mark and still see the hunting footage and the slow motion of the two shots.
On a side note, when I went back the next day and looked at the bloodtrail from the brown boar, I realized I had only been following one side of the trail for the first 20 yards or so on video. He was actually pumping blood from both sides and at one particular place, the left and right side spatters were almost 12 feet apart!
The slick trick magnum had slightly opened up one of the heart chambers, but the other three were intact. I guess that combination provided a main line hole in the blood system while maintaining the heart's ability to pump it under a lot of pressure. Devastating!
Hope you enjoy!
