Guys,
I have been at it all week, hunting everyday for the last seven days. I hadn't seen a buck all week (I had probably saw 30+ does) until the cold front rolled in on Tuesday night and it seemed like Wednesday morning the skies opened. It began what I would call the real pre rut activity (scrapes, rubs and buck fights), I saw 4 bucks on Wednesday morning 1 shooter all within bow range. That night I saw 2 different small young bucks. Thanksgiving Day was a great day full of family, food and great bucks, that afternoons hunt produced two great mature bucks one within range a heavy horned eight point and a tall eight point out of range. Now we get to Friday morning cold, windy and bitter cold (forgot my fleece face mask) but I stayed and froze, about the time my legs went numb and my eyes had watered a small river I noticed movement out to my left in the broom weed, at first look I thought I was the eight point I had seen earlier but to my surprise it was a buck I had never seen before and he came within 12 yards of the stand but wasn't clear but at 22 yards he was clear and headed to the deer gods with a shot that was alittle further back than you would like but down is down and dead is dead. I was blessed with one of the best weeks of hunting in my life REALLY A WEEK TO BE THANKFUL FOR ALL I HAVE
Side note: I will only discuss the two misses I had earlier in the week with close friends!
Good Luck to all and I hope your as blessed as I am.
