Slick Tricked Doe and Jims Tall Ten- both on Video

Went to carta valley again with two goals- One get Jim on his buck and two get me an axis. Both critters were hanging out in same area and with only room in the blind for one hunter- jim was priority since I had got Grave Digger last trip couple weeks prior.

Jim would hunt primary area by open area we call run way or yellow blind bulk feeder.... As soon as he got job done I would move there for axis. Jim had the Axis in front of him each hunt- Friday morning and evening, Saturday morning and then finally killed Tall Ten Saturday evening.

I hunted another part of ranch we call chicken coop and I decided to take a doe, I had already taken my wt buck and will let Trey take my second cull probably.

This doe came in early Friday evening after 10 minutes on the stand. The axis were by jim via txt so I just decided to take the doe and go back to camp early and clean her and start steaks and tators

Saturday evening after Jim seeing and not shooting Tall Ten at every hunt due to some reason or another- spooked, hit blind wall, hit blind top,etc... Jim has only killed one other bow buck last year and this one was wayyy bigger so I know he was nervous

Jim gets ready and is leaving and he sees me get in jeep in shorts and tee shirt with fanny pack. I can tell he is wondering what Im doing but doesnt say anything. After following him on his 4 wheeler for about 1 mile down the trail he turns and notices I am behind him in sammy about the time we park. He looks at me like wth and I tell him I am sitting in the rifle blind to video him smoking the tall ten and txting him to help him....Little did I know this would happen. I headed through trail in woods and he walked down road towards blind 172 yards from rifle blind. He looked puzzled but laughed and went on..

Jim txt me and said "way to add pressure" Im in blind txting him telling him calm down,etc.. relax and drill this deer and about then Tall Ten shows. I told him he was coming long before he saw him and what direction coming from. Just when I think Jim is shooting, all the deer bust out and I try to keep video cam on tall ten- he runs 100 yrds and stops. I zoom in see no blood no arrow,, txt jim what the heck.... He replies never shot. I just knew he smoked him way they took off. TT walks about 500 yrds down sendero and I tell JIm he aint coming back...

about 30 min later and after rewinding video cam since I had like 3 min tape left guess who comes walking in. TT again- i txt jim and we are both in disbeleif. He had already txt me 5 min before saying I could sit there tomorrow and he would just wait and shoot him with rifle since busted him every time. I told him by txt to nail that rascal and I was ready...

I didnt hit record again till I could tell deer turned broadsided to not run out of tape before he shot. My heart was pounding out of my chest more than when I shot GD... I dont know why but i was so hoping JIm would make this happen. Just then, BAM- TT hits the ground instantly...Spined him

Its all on video and I edited out about a solid min of TT spinning....its reality of spine shot but chose to cut it out and just show follow up shot to quickly kill him.

Jims best buck by far and proud to have been there with him. Same blind I shot GD out of couple weekends ago

Nice shot on the slickhead, JT. Killed a doe using the 125gr. magnum slick trick(first time to shoot anything with them). She didn't go 45yds. Nice buck also.

I would say that he and I have come a long way since that doe & spike hunt in Cotulla. We were both after our first bowkill on that hunt!

Actually he didn't know length he needed em cut so they are full shafts- about 4 inches too long. Part of bumping blind walls-

Only the blade of the rage hit spine. Arrow slid out with two fingers and shocked me. Narrower bh or blades rotated horizontally and deer would have possibly run off and lived even with pass through. One blade was bent, other blade and tip hit nothing;(
