I finally got to let an arrow fly on a whitetail.
Friday afternoon I met up with Rsatt at the Hilton and we hit the stands about 5:00 PM, me headed to Grandpa's stand and Ronnie hunting the Condo. Feeder threw corn at 5:30 and the does and a couple of small bucks started to filter in. I had my eye on a nice doe, but she kept hanging back in a cedar while the other deer were having dinner. After 15 minutes of starting to come in, then circling away, she finally got settled in on the corn. I made sure she was in frame of the video, got drawn back without getting busted, and let the Beaman ICS 400, tipped with 100g 3 blade Muzzy, do it's work.
With a crack, the laser nock popped out the off side and she exploded out of sight with 4 or 5 other deer. My view was blocked, so I wasn't quite sure which way she headed, but when I got down to check my arrow, I saw her piled up not 30 yards from the stand. Gotta love a short track.
The autopsy showed I doubled lunged her. I have some good video so will get it edited and posted up later.
Dr. D and the Skydog came out Friday night and got a hunt in Saturday morning. Marion Hobbs also stopped in for a visit Sunday on his way home from Hamilton. No other blood flowed, but it was a great weekend with good folks.
